• A big part of the role is decorating cakes to order. You’ll follow the cake manual for designs, write on cakes, mix colors correctly from the chart, and use an airbrush.
• Organization is key. You maintain the freezer and prep areas, rotating stock properly so nothing goes to waste.
• Cleanliness is non negotiable. You’re responsible for cleaning work areas, tools like couplers and decorating bags, and keeping the supply area tidy.
• You’ll help out with general bakery clerk duties when needed, which can include receiving new product and putting it away.
• Talking with guests is part of the job. A friendly greeting goes a long way. You’ll also listen to any special requests they have and pass those along to a manager.
• If equipment isn't working right; like if a cooler's temperature is off; you need to tell your supervisor right away.
• There are some store wide tasks too. We call them "Front Porch" duties; basically making sure the entrance area looks welcoming when guests arrive. Sometimes you might announce daily specials over the store's PA system.
