About This Role

Who we're looking for

Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital has a part time opening for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the Pain Clinic in Wichita, KS. This isn't your typical clinic gig. You'll work alongside a team that values clinical judgment, collaborative care, and real human connection with patients who need it most.

What you'll actually do

You won't just sit behind a desk. Here's the real day to day:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments ; digging into medical histories, symptoms, and current health status to get the full picture.
  • Perform physical exams and use those findings to build care plans that make sense for each patient.
  • Diagnose and treat both acute and chronic illnesses using advanced clinical knowledge. You'll prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results to guide treatment decisions.
  • Develop individualized care plans that account for physical, emotional, and psychosocial factors. You coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care ; it's never just one person doing everything.
  • Educate patients and families on preventive healthcare, lifestyle changes, and disease management. And you'll promote health through community outreach and educational programs when the opportunity arises.
  • Stay current on research and evidence based practices, integrating them into your clinical decisions. You may contribute to research activities or help shape healthcare policies and guidelines.
  • Keep up with state regulations and licensing requirements for APRN practice. Maintain certifications through continuing education ; it's part of staying sharp in this field.
  • Uphold the core values of Kansas Spine & Specialty Hospital in every interaction. That means treating staff and patients with kindness, courtesy, professionalism. You'll operate with accountability and stay open to feedback as a tool for growth ; not criticism.

What you need to bring

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing with specialization in one of the four recognized APRN roles: Nurse Practitioner (NP), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). This role specifically focuses on NP responsibilities in pain management within the Pain Clinic.
  • A current, valid state nursing license for Kansas or ability to obtain one before starting.
  • National certification in your specific APRN role ; that's non negotiable.
  • Excellent clinical skills paired with solid interpersonal chops. You'll work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team every single day.
  • A genuine commitment to ongoing professional development. This field changes fast; you need to keep pace.
