About This Role
What you’ll do as a High Risk OB Nurse here
You’ll own the full nursing process for your patients ; assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. That means you’re directing and coordinating every piece of nursing care for your department specific patient population, following the standards set by Wesley Medical Center and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. You’ll work alongside other disciplines to keep care delivery efficient and effective, and you’ll track each patient’s progress toward their outcomes.
You’ll apply what you know about a patient’s age and culture to every care decision. You’ll evaluate the quality of your own nursing practice by taking part in improvement activities ; starting, implementing, and sustaining changes that make a real difference. You’ll keep your knowledge current in nursing practice and education. And you’ll help develop your peers, colleagues, and others around you.
You’ll collaborate with patients, their families, and other healthcare providers. You’ll advocate for your patients. You’ll consider safety and cost effectiveness. Every decision and action you take on behalf of patients will be guided by ethics. You’ll also help improve how the department runs day to day.
Communication matters here. You’ll build and maintain respectful relationships. You’ll look for ways to deliver outstanding service to everyone. You’ll apply age appropriate competencies to your specific patient population. And when a patient scenario calls for it, you’ll use critical thinking and problem solving to identify and access the right resources. You’ll also handle medications ; securing, administering, and documenting them according to established guidelines.
