Ultrasound Technologist

MedStar Health·Washington, DC

About This Role

What you'll actually do here

This is a part time Ultrasound Technologist Registered role at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, right in Washington, DC. You're not just pushing buttons all day. You'll operate ultrasound equipment according to established protocols and make sure every exam produces high quality images. And yeah, you'll be working with both adult and pediatric patients.

  • Perform all forms of ultrasound imaging and assist with interventional procedures on adults and kids.
  • Explain what's happening, screen patients, prepare them, and position them for exams.
  • Set up equipment, pick the right transducer, and check that supplies are stocked before each exam.
  • Run exams per department protocols; adjust equipment on the fly to get clear images.
  • Handle image photography and film processing yourself.
  • Review every completed exam for quality ; if it's not good enough, it doesn't count as done.
  • Use your knowledge of physical assessments like blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; also intravenous care and aseptic techniques.
  • Work with the MARS information system to verify all exams performed.
  • Keep an eye on supply levels in your area. When inventory gets low or runs out, tell the right person.
  • Help train new employees and students. That's part of the deal too.

What you need to bring

The basics: an associate degree or 1 3 years of formal training in ultrasonography. Plus 1 2 years of progressively responsible job experience in this field. You also need at least one registration from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). That's non negotiable.

The pay range for this position is $35.68 to $64.71 per hour. Your actual rate will depend on your experience and qualifications.

The benefits side

MedStar Health is one of the largest healthcare systems in the Baltimore Washington metro region ; they've also been recognized as one of the "Healthiest Maryland Businesses." So it's a solid place to work if you want stability without feeling like just another number.

A quick note: This posting isn't promising specific benefit details beyond compensation because those can vary by role and location. If that matters to you (and it probably does), ask during your interview process exactly what's offered for this part time position at Washington, DC.

How to apply

If this sounds like something you'd actually want to do every day ; not just something you could do ; then send in your application through JobXi directly. Make sure your resume clearly shows your ARDMS registration status and how many years of experience you have in ultrasonography.
