Alright, let's get straight to it. I'm looking for a Surgical Technologist to join the team at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. This isn't just any hospital; it's a 395 bed academic medical center with a Level I Trauma Center and a reputation for advanced surgical work, from robotics to transplants. They're part of UHS, one of the biggest healthcare providers out there.
The Work
You'll be on a 39 bed unit that handles pre- and post op care for general surgery and runs the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. It's patient focused nursing for folks coming out of all kinds of procedures: Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, Tracheostomies, kidney and liver transplants, trauma cases. You'll learn a ton about different surgical techniques here.
- Provide safe, competent nursing care following facility policies.
- Offer professional leadership and support to the rest of the healthcare team.
- All care is built on Patient Centered Care concepts.
- You need to demonstrate Service Excellence standards consistently.
What You Need To Bring
The basics are non negotiable. But if you've got some acute care experience under your belt, that's a big plus.
- A graduate from an accredited or NLN approved RN program.
- A current state nursing license.
- A current BLS certification.
- They prefer one year of full time experience in an acute care setting. Three years part time also works.
