About This Role
This isn't a typical software job. You'd be working on naval training and simulation systems that are actively used, like the Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer. The work is real time, it's for the US Navy, and the systems you help build go into production within about six months. You're not building something that might get used someday.
What you'd do
You'll develop real time software on Linux. The primary languages are C++ and Java. You'd be involved in all phases of the development process, using modern tools and architectures.
The role can involve travel to fleet concentration areas like Pearl Harbor, San Diego, or Norfolk to see your work in action.
What you need to have
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- U.S. Citizenship is required. You must be eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance; an Interim Secret clearance is needed to start employment.
- At least two years of professional C++ software development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Linux tools and libraries.
- A solid understanding of core software engineering principles.
It'd be great if you also had
- An advanced degree, continuing education in computer science, or a background in advanced math or physics.
- Experience with any of these: cluster computing, signal processing, Kubernetes, numerical simulation, multi threading, GPUs, data visualization, underwater acoustic modeling, or sonar systems.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices, Atlassian products (like Jira), and DevSecOps tools such as Gitlab, Conan, Jenkins, or Docker.
