About This Role
Hey there. I've been recruiting for OR roles for over a decade, and I'm posting this one for MedStar Health in Washington, DC. It's a specific gig in a specific unit, so let's get into the details.
The Role & The Unit
This is a full time day shift position. You're looking at 12 hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
You'd be working in a 16 suite Operating Room that has some serious focus areas. They specialize in orthopedics and emergency general cases. This isn't just any ortho program; it's nationally recognized, home to The Curtis National Hand Center and the MedStar Orthopaedic Institute. There are dedicated centers for sports medicine, spine, hip & knee, and foot & ankle work. It's also the state designated Hand & Upper Extremity Trauma Center through the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.
As the Clinical Nurse here, you're providing skilled nursing care across the board; from routine situations to highly complex ones. You'll assess how patient conditions are changing, pinpoint actual and potential health concerns, and then develop the right plan of care. You'll carry out interventions directly or coordinate them by working with other members of the nursing team.
What You Need to Bring
- A nursing degree is required: an ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing.
- You need at least one year of experience as an RN.
- They strongly prefer candidates with two years of experience specifically as an Operating Room RN.
- If you have orthopedic OR experience, that's a definite plus.
- An active Maryland RN license or an active Compact State RN license is mandatory.
- You must have Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers from either the AHA or American Red Cross.
- Having your ACLS certification is preferred.
The Pay & The Perks
The hiring pay range for this position is $37.10 to $56.91 per hour.
- The health benefit plans are comprehensive.
- Paid time off is generous, and there are flex scheduling options available.
- There are retirement plans with a company match.
- Tuition assistance is there if you want to advance your education.
- The systemwide referral bonus program pays up to $6,000 for each RN you refer who joins MedStar Health (and up to $4,000 for each LPN).
- Relocation assistance is offered up to $5,000.
- Associates get free parking.
- The company also provides nationally recognized resources focused on nurse wellbeing.
A Final Note
The specifics from the original posting are all above. If your experience lines up with what they're looking for; especially that OR background; this could be a solid fit in a high caliber unit. Apply if it sounds like your next move.
