What you'll do

This role is about building and delivering the learning programs that help nurses grow, stay competent, and deliver great patient care. You won't just teach classes; you'll design the whole system behind it. Think of yourself as part educator, part consultant, part change agent.

• Design, run, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff across the department.
• Figure out what people need to learn by talking to leaders, looking at data, and observing what happens on the floor.
• Use teaching methods that actually stick with adults: critical thinking exercises, real world scenarios, and evidence based practice.

Onboarding and orientation

New hires need a solid start. You'll plan and lead general nursing orientation programs. You'll also coordinate unit based orientation so new nurses get grounded in their specific work area. For newly licensed nurses coming through our New to Practice Nurse Residency Program, you'll support their transition from student to working nurse.

Ongoing learning and new programs

Things change fast in healthcare. When new equipment shows up or a procedure changes, you're the one who develops the training around it. If there's a skill gap or something needs remediation, you identify it early and collaborate with unit leaders to fix it. You'll also coordinate educational offerings tied to mandatory regulatory requirements, quality metrics, safety performance improvement efforts ; whatever keeps care delivery current.

• Run review programs for clinical nursing specialty certifications.

Competency assessment

You own competency development across nursing. That means planning validation programs where people demonstrate they can do what they need to do ; safely and effectively. You differentiate between "this person needs more training" versus "this is a system problem." Coaching others to improve their practice is part of this too; feedback flows both ways here.

Evaluation of learning programs

A good program gets measured. You develop evaluation plans that actually tell you whether something worked or not involving learners in giving feedback along the way. Document participation levels track success rates then revise whole learning plans based on hard data if something isn't hitting right anymore.
