About This Role

Job Overview

This management consultant role is about solving real business puzzles. You'll work directly with leadership teams in Washington, DC and beyond, diagnosing operational challenges and building plans that actually get implemented. It's less about theory and more about creating tangible change.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep dive analyses into client processes, financials, and market positions to pinpoint inefficiencies or opportunities.
  • Develop actionable roadmaps for improvement, from initial strategy through to the metrics that will track success.
  • Facilitate workshops with client teams to align stakeholders and build consensus around new ways of working.
  • Prepare clear, compelling reports and presentations that translate complex data into straightforward recommendations for executives.
  • Support clients during the implementation phase, helping to troubleshoot issues and ensure changes stick.

Requirements

  • A knack for breaking down messy, ambiguous problems into structured components.
  • Experience in a consulting environment or in a strategic internal role where you've led change initiatives.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field; an MBA or relevant master's is a common plus.
  • The mental stamina to juggle multiple client priorities and think on your feet during high stakes meetings. Travel to client sites in Washington, DC and other regions will be part of the rhythm.

What It's Like In This Role

You're never bored. One week you're mapping a supply chain for a manufacturer, the next you're redesigning a service model for a healthcare provider. Your team is typically small, focused, and collaborative; you'll rely on each other's expertise daily. Tools range from advanced analytics software to simple whiteboards during brainstorming sessions. The workload has peaks and valleys; some weeks demand long hours to meet a client deadline, while others allow for deeper research and planning.

Why You'll Like This Opportunity

The variety is the biggest draw; you'll see inside different industries without changing jobs. There's significant autonomy in how you approach solutions. Every project builds your toolkit, making you more valuable whether you stay in consulting or move into a leadership role elsewhere. You get exposure to senior level thinking across the Washington, DC business landscape.

Schedule & Work Type

This is primarily a full time position. The model is often hybrid: time spent at a home office or local firm hub in Washington, DC, combined with travel to client sites as needed. Fully remote arrangements may be possible depending on the specific employer and project requirements.
