The Work

This is a cook's role at Macquarie in Washington, DC. You're joining the kitchen team for Constellation.

Your main focus is making sandwiches. You'll handle production for the daily lunch service in the cafe, and you'll also prep for catering orders. There's a rhythm to it; you're building quality into every plate while keeping up with the volume.

• Assist the Catering Sous Chef whenever they need support.
• Your day involves food prep, portion control, and making sure the presentation has some creative flair.
• You're part of maintaining the kitchen itself.
• Proper food storage is part of your routine.
• Following safe food handling policies and specific recipes isn't optional; it's how we operate.

What You Need

A few things are essential here. We need someone who's done this before in a specific kind of place.

• At least one year of culinary experience in a high volume, quality focused establishment. Scratch cooking should be a big part of your background.
• You need deli production knowledge. If you've built a lot of sandwiches professionally, that's what we're talking about.
• A working knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques, and standards.
• Great attention to detail. You'll be handling multiple tasks when it gets busy.
• The ability to use different kitchen equipment and tools. You should also be able to identify and differentiate food items by sight.
• Customer service experience is required.

A food handler’s certification would be a nice bonus, but it isn't a must have starting out.

The Details & Benefits

The pay range is $23 to $25 an hour. This is a full time position.
