About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this one. I'm helping a fantastic, mission driven luxury hotel in Washington, DC find their next General Manager. This isn't just another hotel job; it's about leading a place with real history and community purpose. You'd be the top executive on property, running the whole show.

The Role

You're in charge of everything. That means full operational oversight for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Talent Development, and Guest Experience. Your main focus is driving financial performance and maintaining a level of operational excellence that matches the luxury brand.

  • Provide total property leadership.
  • Manage profitability specifically across Rooms, F&B, and event or conference operations.
  • You'll develop and execute the annual budgeting and forecasting strategies.
  • A big part of the job is monitoring financial performance to optimize Gross Operating Profit.
  • Maintaining elevated guest service standards is non negotiable; it has to feel like true luxury hospitality.
  • Leading talent strategy; that's recruitment, development, and retention; falls to you.
  • Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations is on your desk.
  • Overseeing preventative maintenance programs, safety, and risk management is part of the deal.
  • You'll collaborate directly with ownership, talent leadership (HR), and all department heads.
  • The property is mission driven, so supporting community engagement and related programming is essential.

What You Need to Bring

This role needs a seasoned leader who gets luxury service from the ground up. A deep appreciation for history, community impact, and building a strong service culture isn't just nice to have; it's central to succeeding here.

  • You need at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality.
  • Within that, 5+ years must be in a senior hotel leadership role like Hotel Manager, Resort Manager, or General Manager.
  • Strong operational leadership experience in Food & Beverage is required. Not optional.
  • Experience in a full service luxury or upscale boutique hotel setting is strongly preferred.
  • You've got proven expertise managing P&L statements and doing forecasting.
  • The role requires multi department operational oversight; you must have direct experience with both Rooms and Food & Beverage divisions.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not an absolute deal breaker if your experience speaks for itself. We know great leaders come from different paths sometimes.
