
About This Role
The Job
MedStar Health needs an Electrical Engineer in Washington, DC. You'll oversee the Boilers and Chiller Plant during your shift, keeping everything running efficiently. When something breaks or needs regular maintenance, you're the person handling it or helping the repair crew.
What You'll Actually Do
- Monitor the Chiller Plant throughout your shift to make sure it's performing at its best.
- Handle regular maintenance and repairs on the Chiller Plant as they come up during your shift. For bigger or more complicated problems, you'll report them to the Foreman or Power Plant Engineer I.
- Work with the maintenance and repair crew on both scheduled and emergency repairs to boilers, generators, chillers, and other Facilities Management equipment.
- Keep your assigned areas operating within all hospital, federal, and local codes, including OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, and Fire and Life Safety practices.
- Stay current on the latest codes and regulations for fire safety, plumbing, electrical, and plant operations. That includes OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, ASHRAE, ANSI, DCRA, and D.C. Fire & Safety Codes, plus the hospital's Fire and Life Safety practices.
What You Need to Bring
- A High School diploma or GED is required. Trade or vocational school with courses in chemistry, physics, or math is preferred.
- You must have completed an approved apprentice training program.
- A current D.C. Third Class Operating License is required.
- A current CFC License is also required.
- Familiarity with the latest applicable codes from OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, and Fire and Life Safety practices.
Pay
This position pays between $31.28 and $56.39 per hour.
