About This Role
What you'll do
You’ll be the expert on medical nutrition therapy for inpatients. That means doing full assessments, including nutrition focused physical exams, and creating diet education plans. You'll also make recommendations for things like tube feeding or IV nutrition.
A big part of the job is talking with doctors, nurses, and other care team members about your patients' needs. You’ll document everything clearly in their electronic medical record.
- Consult with physicians and other health pros on nutritional status and diet plans.
- Formulate assessment and follow up plans for patients identified at nutrition risk.
- Recommend, document, and track the patient's nutrition treatment plan.
- Participate in clinical rounds and relevant department meetings.
- Provide diet education for both inpatients and outpatients to help them manage their own care.
- The role requires flexibility. You'll cross cover other areas like the Neonatal ICU and Pediatrics when needed, providing staff relief across inpatient and outpatient services.

This isn't just a day to day clinical job. We expect you to stay sharp and contribute to the team's knowledge.

- Give at least one formal presentation annually on a specialty topic, either internally or out in the community.
- Attend meetings that help you grow your clinical skills; you'll keep a record of this in your CDR Professional Development Plan.
- Holding current membership in a relevant professional organization is part of the role.
- You’ll also participate in licensing surveys as required.
