Civil Engineer

Leidos·Washington, DC

About This Role

This isn't a standard engineering job. You'd be working on the National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program, supporting the FAA's Mobile Asset Deployment Center. The work is mission critical; it's about keeping the National Airspace System safe and running. That means making sure mobile air traffic control towers and deployment centers are designed, built, modernized, and ready to deploy during emergencies or major events.

What you'd do

You'll lead design and construction activities for mobile facilities. A big part of the role is reviewing designs, specs, and technical requirements against codes.

  • Develop as built drawings and CAD work.
  • Support facilities acquisitions, which involves writing statements of work, specifications, and putting together design packages.
  • Use SharePoint for collaboration and document management.
  • The job supports FAA system integration efforts directly.

The schedule & location

This is a part time position at 29 hours per week. It's hybrid; telecommuting is permitted for about 90% of the time right now. But you need to be based in Washington D.C., as there will be times you have to report to FAA headquarters. Expect business travel around 25% of the time.

What you need to bring

A BS in engineering and 5 to 8 years of relevant experience. You have to be comfortable taking the lead on design and construction projects.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is necessary.
  • The role requires a Public Trust Security clearance; you must be able to obtain it and maintain it.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral; are non negotiable here.

It'd be a plus if you have prior federal government contracting experience or a working knowledge of FAA systems themselves.

Pay & applying

The pay range for this position is $73,450.00 - $132,775.00 annually (prorated for part time). Final offer amounts consider your experience, education, skills, and internal equity.

Leidos offers benefits that include health and wellness programs, income protection plans, paid leave, and retirement options. More details are on their careers site.
