About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this CFO opening. It's with a company that's deep in the agricultural world; they source, process, and distribute farm grown commodities like nuts and specialty crops. They're focused on sustainability, operational excellence, and building long term partnerships. If you're someone who gets how a real supply chain works from the ground up, this could be a good fit.

The Role

You'd be reporting directly to the CEO as part of the executive team. Your main job is to own all things financial for the company. That means you're not just overseeing reports; you're actively managing and controlling the entire financial operation.

  • Lead and manage the finance and accounting team.
  • Handle financial forecasting, budgeting, and the preparation of all financial reporting.
  • Provide advice on long term business and financial planning.
  • Build relationships with senior management, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Review formal procedures related to finance, HR, and IT.
  • Develop performance measures that align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Oversee financial operations for any subsidiary companies or foreign operations.
  • Manage any third party vendors handling outsourced accounting or finance functions.
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems.
  • Understand and work to mitigate the company's key risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Make sure record keeping meets auditor and government agency standards.
  • Report risk issues to the board's audit committee.
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and look into their findings.

The Specifics We Need

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required. A CPA or CMA certification is strongly preferred; it’s a real advantage here. You need at least 5 years of experience as a CFO or in an equivalent role. Experience in manufacturing is preferred but not an absolute deal breaker if your background is solid elsewhere. The day to day requires proficiency in MS Office and standard financial software. You'll need in depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices. A big part of this is data analysis and forecasting; you have to be comfortable with numbers. The rest? It’s about how you operate. You need excellent judgment for creative problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Superior management skills are non negotiable; you have to influence your direct reports, peers, and engage effectively with senior management and the board. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills are mandatory because you'll be interfacing with everyone from staff to investors. The ideal candidate can operate as both a tactical thinker handling daily operations and a strategic thinker planning for what’s next.
