About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this paralegal role. It's a hybrid position based in Washington, DC, which means you'll split your time between the office and working remotely. The schedule itself is flexible. You'd be joining a firm that focuses on personal injury law, and they need someone who knows their way around a litigation file from start to finish.

What you'd be doing

You won't be sitting on the sidelines here. This is a hands on litigation support role where you're integral to moving cases forward.

  • Work directly with attorneys to prepare, file, and manage all the critical paperwork: pleadings, motions, briefs.
  • A big part of the job is digging into discovery. You'll summarize depositions, medical records, and other materials that come in.
  • Case management is key. You're maintaining calendars, keeping files organized, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Getting ready for court is a major focus. You'll help prepare for hearings, depositions, and trials; that includes putting together trial notebooks and exhibits.
  • You'll be the point of contact coordinating with various parties; medical providers, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel.
  • There's also a layer of administrative work like docketing, general filing, and scheduling.

The background we need

This isn't an entry level spot. They need someone who's been in the trenches of personal injury law for a bit and can hit the ground running.

  • First off, you need at least three years of specific experience in personal injury litigation. That's non negotiable.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Your experience has to be practical. We're talking hands on work with depositions, hearings, legal writing and research, docketing, law and motion practice, pleadings, and calendaring.
  • You should have direct experience preparing materials for court: hearing notebooks, medical notebooks, trial notebooks.
  • A solid working knowledge of personal injury law is essential. Familiarity with criminal defense is also listed as something they want.
  • You need to be proficient with standard legal software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • A paralegal certificate would be a nice bonus but isn't mandatory.
