Job Overview

This role is for a Cardiac RN to provide specialized nursing care to patients with heart conditions. You'll manage post operative recovery, monitor cardiac rhythms, and educate patients on managing their health. The position is based in Virginia Beach, VA, working within a hospital or specialized clinic setting where precision and calm under pressure are part of the daily rhythm.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for cardiac patients, including those recovering from procedures like catheterizations or bypass surgery.
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret complex cardiac rhythms, responding to changes promptly.
• Administer cardiac medications, titrating IV drips like nitroglycerin or heparin based on strict protocols.
• Provide thorough patient and family education on disease management, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists and the care team to adjust treatment plans throughout a patient's stay.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes with accuracy in the electronic health record.

Requirements

• A current, unrestricted RN license for the state of Virginia Beach, VA is mandatory.
• At least one year of recent experience in a cardiac step down unit, ICU, or telemetry floor. New grads with relevant clinical rotations will be considered for some positions.
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS certification is highly preferred and often required.
• The ability to stand for long periods, respond quickly to alarms, and manage the emotional weight of critically ill patients is part of this job.
