ICU RN

Ascension·Tulsa, OK

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this ICU night shift. I'm looking for an RN for the Adult ICU at Ascension St John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. It's a weekend nights position, full time.

The Work

You're the one managing direct nursing care for critically ill patients. That means creating and constantly adjusting their care plans to get the best possible outcomes.

You'll be the main point of contact, coordinating everything with the doctors, therapists, social workers; the whole team. You make sure care is continuous and nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Assessing what a patient needs for discharge and working with the team to make those transitions safe and smooth is a big part of it.
  • Your documentation has to be meticulous. And you've got to communicate any change in a patient's condition clearly and quickly to the right people.

What You Need to Have

First thing: you need an Oklahoma Registered Nurse license from the state board before your start date.

  • For education, a nursing diploma from an accredited school or college is required. Your professional licensure at the time of hire also meets this requirement.
  • You must get your BLS Provider certification within one month (30 days) of starting. They accept it from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • You also need Advanced Life Support certification within six months (180 days) of your start date. Again, AHA or Red Cross is fine.

The Schedule & The Offer

This is a full time role on weekend nights. You're covering those critical hours when the hospital is quieter but no less intense.

The benefits here are substantial. It's one of their strong points.

  • The health coverage is comprehensive: medical, dental, vision, prescription drug plans, with HSA and FSA options available.
  • For financial security, there's an employer matched 403(b) retirement plan. They also offer disability and life insurance, plus planning tools and hardship resources.
  • You get pro rated paid time off for vacation and holidays.
  • Ascension pays for tuition through their Vocare program for career growth. There's also reimbursement support, professional development, and online learning.
  • They provide emotional well being resources like an Employee Assistance Program, counseling, peer support, spiritual care, and stress management tools.
  • Family support includes parental leave and adoption assistance.
  • A few other optional benefits are legal insurance, pet insurance, and transportation savings programs.

A quick but important note: specific benefit options and eligibility depend on your position, scheduled hours, and location. These benefits can change; your recruiter will give you all the current details during hiring.
