About This Role
Alright, let's cut through the corporate fluff and talk about this job. GEICO needs a bilingual sales rep in Tucson, AZ. It's not a cold calling gig; you're talking to people who are already interested. You'll be using Spanish and English every day to help customers understand their options and get them covered.
The Work
You're the person they talk to after they see the ads. Your main job is turning interest into a new policy. That means building a connection quickly, explaining coverage clearly, and putting together accurate quotes. You won't be dialing random numbers hoping someone picks up. The people calling in are already looking for insurance; your job is to show them why GEICO is the right choice.
- Prepare detailed insurance quotes for customers.
- Advise people on their coverage options; you'll need to explain things simply.
- Convert those quotes into active, new policies.
What You Need to Bring
They're pretty specific on the background here. You need one of these three paths to even be considered.
- You must be fully fluent in both English and Spanish; excellent verbal and written skills in both languages are required.
- A minimum of two years in prior sales experience or professional office or call center work.
- If you don't have that, an associate's degree or higher works instead.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is the bare minimum education requirement.
- Solid computer skills and the ability to multitask without dropping the ball.
- The call center environment is fast paced and high volume. You need to be comfortable with that pace.
The Schedule & Setup
This is a hybrid role, but training is full time in the office. Here’s how it breaks down:
- The initial 10 week training program is 100% in office at our Tucson, AZ location.
- After training, you'll work from the office four days a week and from home one day a week.
- The pay rate starts at $23.00 per hour (which they note is $46,345 annually). Because you're bilingual, you get an additional 10% differential on top of that base rate.
- If your shift qualifies, there's also a +10% evening differential available.
Earnings & Growth
The starting rate isn't necessarily where you'll stay. There's real potential to grow your income here through performance and tenure.
- After the 10 week training program, you become eligible for additional monthly sales incentives on top of your hourly pay.
- A lot of reps see their base salary increase by about 10% within their first year just by doing good work. Top performers can see increases up to 15%.
A Couple Specific Notes
A quick heads up on two administrative details:
- $1,500 Sign On Bonus Potential: If you already have an active Property & Casualty (P&C) or personal lines insurance license when you apply, ask your recruiter about eligibility for this bonus. It's not automatic; you have to ask for details.
- Sponsorship Note:.GEICO will not sponsor employment authorization (like a work visa) for this position.
