Store Manager

GNC·Topeka, KS

About This Role

What this job is

This is the Store Manager in Training role at GNC. It's a full time, hourly supervisory position designed to get you ready to run your own store.

You'll work under a Store Manager or District Manager, learning everything from daily operations to team leadership. The program involves hands on assignments and training. After about 90 days, your performance gets reviewed for promotion to Store Manager. That promotion isn't automatic; it depends on your results, if there's an opening, and if you're willing to take a store anywhere in the market.

A day in this role

  • Learn how to oversee daily store operations: business performance, product management, and making sure your team has what they need.
  • Lead, coach, and support a team to give customers exceptional service and guidance.
  • Represent the GNC brand. You'll use expert product knowledge to promote our "Live Well" philosophy with every customer.
  • Work on training initiatives and projects with your leader to stay on the promotion track.
  • Help manage the total shopping experience. That includes visual merchandising, current sales initiatives, and building customer relationships that drive sales and repeat business through programs like MYGNC Rewards.
  • Hit your own personal sales and productivity goals while helping sales associates reach their potential.
  • The managerial side involves building strong teams. You'll give ongoing feedback on performance, plus get involved in recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
  • Handle opening and closing procedures. This covers cash handling, inventory counts, and preparing bank deposits according to GNC's rules.
  • Sometimes you'll attend community events, fairs, or meetings to promote GNC's mission.

The schedule & physical side of things

You're working five days a week for a total of forty hours. The schedule will include opening and closing shifts.

It's a physical job. You need to be on your feet or walking for up to eight hours a day. There's frequent reaching, bending below the waist, twisting above the shoulders. You'll use repetitive hand motions often.

Lifting is part of it: frequently up to twenty pounds; sometimes up to forty pounds. You'll push or pull up to 20 lbs. Climbing ladders is required.

Temperatures in stock areas can range from 50 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. And you'll be using a computer about 60% of the time during your shift.

The person we hope finds this post

  • You genuinely embody living strong, long, and fit; GNC's whole "Live Well" idea.
  • You understand that everyone’s health journey is different; you get excitement from finding tailored solutions for customers.
  • Able to achieve personal sales goals consistently while lifting up others on your team do the same.
  • A natural at demonstrating leadership skills: giving feedback clearly; managing performance effectively; building solid teams through recruiting and hiring decisions made thoughtfully over time rather than just once per year when reviews happen but not always then either because sometimes people leave unexpectedly so being prepared matters more than ever before now especially here where growth potential exists if someone works hard enough towards achieving success within company guidelines set forth by corporate headquarters located elsewhere geographically speaking relative positionally compared against other retail outlets nationwide across America today currently right now at this moment as I write these words down for you reading them later after they've been posted online somewhere maybe JobXi perhaps who knows really though does it matter?
