About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this RN job at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital in Topeka, KS. I've been placing nurses here for a while. It's a different kind of nursing; slower, more intentional. You're not just managing crises; you're walking people through the long haul of getting back to their lives after an injury or illness. If that sounds like your thing, read on.

The Work

You'll be the nurse responsible for your patients' care from shift to handoff. That means running assessments, supervising treatments, and building the care plans. You're the point person.

  • Your main focus is understanding what each patient needs to recover and making it happen.
  • A big part of the job is talking with patients and their families, figuring out what's worrying them, and helping them see the path forward.
  • You'll work directly with therapy teams, doctors, and everyone else involved to make sure care isn't fragmented.
  • Sometimes you're providing hands on care; other times you're the go to resource for other staff when they have questions about a complex case.
  • The best part? You get to be there for the wins, big and small. When someone takes their first step or finally goes home.

What You Need to Bring

They need a real RN license for Kansas, obviously. And you've got to have a current CPR card. Now, here’s what will make your life easier and make you a stronger candidate:

  • If you've got your ACLS certification, that's a plus.
  • A Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential is preferred.
  • They'd really like someone who has already worked in a rehab hospital setting for at least a year. You'll know the pace and the goals if you have.

The Details & The Offer

This is for full time nights. To sweeten that deal, they're offering a $7,500 sign on bonus for it.

The benefits start on your first day. Seriously, day one.

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans that won't break the bank for you and your family.
  • You earn paid time off as you work there; it builds up over time.
  • They'll help pay for school with tuition reimbursement and support continuing ed.
  • There's a 401(k) with a company match and a chance to buy company stock.
  • Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts are available too.

A Bit About Them

This hospital is a joint venture between Encompass Health and Stormont Vail Health. Encompass is a national player in inpatient rehab; over 150 places across the country; and they're growing. They've won some awards for being a good place to work. The culture they talk about is built on empathy, doing the right thing, and sticking together as a team. It's not just talk; you feel it when you're in the building.
