Registered Nurse

About This Role

Hey there. I've been recruiting for HCA HealthONE Mountain Ridge for a while now, and I'm looking to fill a specific RN position on our Wound Care team. It's not your standard floor nursing gig; it's a specialized role with a unique schedule that might be perfect if you're looking for something different.

The Role

You'll be the primary RN providing direct wound care to patients. That means you're responsible for the whole process: planning, directing, and delivering nursing care in line with Colorado's Nurse Practice Act, physician orders, and our established policies. We need someone who can think critically and lead in how they plan and perform patient care. You'll also be expected to meet the specific clinical competencies we've set here at Mountain Ridge.

Your day to day will follow a model of Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. You'll collaborate with providers and the rest of the care team to give personalized, compassionate care. A big part of this is acting as an advocate for your patients and their families.

  • Assessing each patient's condition on admission and during every shift; you need to spot changes in status fast and report them.
  • Performing procedures or monitoring as ordered by providers, and making sure everything you do is documented thoroughly in the patient's record.
  • Administering medications, watching for how the patient responds, and taking action if there's an unintended reaction.
  • Responding quickly to patient requests and anticipating their needs before they have to ask.
  • Teaching patients and their families about conditions, treatment plans, meds (including side effects), and follow up care. You have to translate complex medical info into something they can actually understand.

What You Need To Bring

Let's talk specifics. This isn't an entry level position.

  • A current Colorado Registered Nurse license or an active multistate RN license.
  • An Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or a Registered Nurse Diploma.
  • A minimum of two years' experience working in an acute care hospital setting.
  • You must obtain your Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within your first 30 days if you don't have it already.

A couple things that would really make you stand out? Previous wound care experience in either an outpatient or inpatient setting is a big plus. So is having a certification like WOCN or CWS.

The Schedule & Pay

The schedule here is pretty distinct. You need to be available Monday through Thursday. The commitment is a minimum of two shifts per month. And here’s the kicker: no Fridays and no weekends required. The hourly wage range for this role is $36.50 to $55.25. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of that range. Your exact offer would depend on your specific skills and how your experience compares to others already in this role at HCA HealthONE Mountain Ridge in Thornton, CO.

We put together a package that covers health, life, career, and retirement.
