Vascular Sonographer

UF Health·Tampa, FL

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Vascular Sonographer opening at UF Health in Tampa, FL.

It's a role built around patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab. You'll be circulating, scrubbing, and recording for a mix of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The work covers adult interventional cases, heart failure services, and pulmonary services. A big part of the job is operating the medical equipment and software that makes it all happen; you need to be proficient with that tech. And of course, you're interacting with patients, families, physicians, and the rest of the staff every day. Professionalism in those interactions isn't just a nice to have; it's essential.

What You Need to Bring

You've got to have an Associate's Degree. But there are two paths that qualify.

  • Path one is an AS Degree from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program.
  • The other path is an AS Degree from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.

Your specific certification depends entirely on which educational path you took.

  • If your degree is in Cardiovascular Technology, you must be credentialed by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
  • If your background is in Radiologic Technology, you need a registration category from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). They're looking for Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), or Radiography (R). Just so you know, the CI registration is their preferred one if you go this route.

The Practical Stuff

The schedule here is full time. You're looking at 40 hours a week. The shifts are ten hours long, running four days a week. It's primarily day shift work.

Pay starts at $27.45 per hour and can go up to $38.43 per hour. Where you land in that range depends on your experience and qualifications.

Benefits

  • Health insurance coverage for medical, dental, and vision.
  • A retirement plan to help you save for later.
  • You'll earn paid time off for vacations and personal needs.
  • Sick leave is separate and accrues as you work.
  • The hospital observes major holidays; those are paid days off if they fall on your scheduled shift.
