Shuttle Driver

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this shuttle driver job. It's a night shift position in Tampa, FL, and it's the backbone of how things move from point A to point B. You're not just driving; you're making sure the whole system keeps rolling.

The Work

You'll be running empty trailers from our yard out to our warehouse locations. Then you'll turn around, hook up to a loaded trailer, and bring it back. It's a constant loop that keeps product flowing. Your main focus is doing this safely and on time, following every DOT rule to the letter.

A big part of your day is the checklist. You're inspecting your tractor and trailer before you hit the road and again when you get back. You're making sure the freight is loaded right and secured. You'll handle all the required paperwork for your route and your hours of service log. And sometimes, you'll need to unload equipment or bring back damaged goods, so there's some physical work involved.

  • Perform pre trip and post trip safety inspections per DOT regulations.
  • Drive assigned routes to deliver empty trailers and return with full ones.
  • Secure all freight properly and complete necessary load paperwork.
  • Hook and unhook trailers safely at each stop.
  • Park tractors and store trailers in their designated spots.
  • Collect any customer returns or damaged goods for return to the facility.
  • Keep your daily log of hours current and accurate.
  • General housekeeping to keep your tractor and our dock areas clean.

What You Need to Bring

We need someone who knows their way around a big rig. This isn't a training position; we need you to have solid experience already under your belt.

  • A valid Class A CDL with a Doubles Endorsement is mandatory.
  • At least 12 months of commercial driving experience.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Report for the last three years is required.
  • You must be at least 21 years old.
  • A current DOT Health Card, or you need to be able to pass the physical to get one.
  • The schedule is nights, Sunday through Thursday. You get one weekday off each week, but it's a third shift operation.

The Physical Side

This isn't just sitting in a cab all night. There's lifting involved when handling returned goods or equipment. You should be comfortable using a two wheeler or a lift gate to move cases that can weigh between 60 and 90 pounds.
