About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this GEICO sales job in Tampa, FL. I've been placing people here for years, and they run a solid operation. This isn't about cold calls or high pressure tactics. You're answering the phone when people are looking for insurance, figuring out what they need, and putting together a policy that makes sense for them.
The Work
You'll handle inbound calls from people shopping for auto insurance. Your main job is to listen, build some rapport, and understand what coverage they're actually looking for. Then you use GEICO's systems to prepare quotes, walk them through their options, and help them get a policy set up.
- It's all about guiding customers to the right coverage.
- You convert those quotes into active policies.
- The goal is to deliver service that makes someone glad they chose GEICO.
You're helping people feel secure. And honestly, it's a good gig if you like talking to people and solving straightforward problems.
What You Need to Bring
GEICO has a few different paths to qualify based on your education. You need one of these combinations:
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus at least 2 years of customer facing work experience.
- An Associate's Degree plus at least 1 year of customer facing work experience.
- A Bachelor's Degree plus at least 3 months of customer facing experience.
Beyond that paperwork, they're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping customers. You've got to be comfortable on a computer; know your way around the Microsoft Office stuff. Problem solving skills are key; calls can come in fast and you need to adapt. A flexible schedule is part of the deal, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.
The Schedule & Pay
Here’s the structure: your initial training is 100% in office. After that, it becomes a hybrid role. You'll work 4 days a week in the office and have 1 day working from home each week.
The starting salary range is $25.31 per hour (which is about $51,000 annually) up to $34.24 per hour (about $69,000 annually). On top of that base pay, there's an incentive plan. Top performers on that plan can earn up to an additional $60,000 annually.
- If you already have an active Personal Lines Insurance license when you start, there's a $1,500 sign on bonus for you.
- If you work eligible evening shifts, you get a +10% pay differential on those hours.
Benefits & Other Details
- Health Insurance: Comprehensive healthcare and well being support starts on your first day.
- 401(k): You're automatically enrolled from day one with a 6% pre tax contribution from you. GEICO matches 100% of what you put in, up to 6% of your eligible earnings. Their matching contributions go into your account every paycheck and are vested immediately.
- Training: They cover the cost of your required licensing and continuing education. There are leadership development programs and hundreds of eLearning courses available too.
A quick but important note: GEICO will not sponsor employment authorization for this position now or in the future.
