About This Role
Hey there. I've been recruiting nurses for over a decade, and I know a solid PRN gig when I see one. This isn't about filling a seat; it's about finding the right nurse for a specific team at Ambulatory Surgery Center Tampa in Tampa, FL. If you're an RN with some grit and PACU or critical care experience who wants control over your schedule, let's talk.
The Work
You're the bridge between surgery and home. Your shift revolves around preparing for, recovering, and safely discharging surgical patients. It's a mix of sharp assessment, hands on care, and clear communication.
- Get your patient's bay ready before they roll in. That means making sure all the equipment and supplies they'll need are right there.
- You'll do the full workup: a head to toe physical, a review of their history and any tests, and a psychological check in.
- Administering pre op meds and IV therapy as ordered is part of your flow.
- We need someone proficient with IVs; inserting them, maintaining them, and pulling them out cleanly.
- A big part of your focus is on that post op site. You're checking dressings, monitoring the surgical area, and knowing exactly when to flag the surgeon if something looks off.
- The last step is yours: making absolutely certain your patient hits every discharge criterion before they walk out the door.
What You Need to Bring
Let's be direct about qualifications. We need these from day one.
- Your nursing degree: an Associate Degree in Nursing, an RN Diploma, or a higher degree like a BSN.
- At least one year of nursing experience in a clinical setting. Time in PACU, ICU, or Surgery? That's what we're really looking for.
- An active RN license for the state you'll be working in.
- A current BCLS certification. Just a heads up; they don't accept online only certs for this one.
- You'll need to get your ACLS certification within your first 30 days here.
- PALS certification is also required within 30 days if our facility needs it.
