What this Lifeguard role is all about
This is not a sit on a-chair and whistle kind of job. You're working at a water park in Tampa, FL, where the days are fast, the slides are tall, and the guests show up ready to have fun. You'll monitor the water, enforce safety rules, and jump into action when someone needs help. But you'll also greet guests, answer their questions, and help them enjoy their day. It's a hands on role that keeps you moving.
You can come in as an Aquatic Attraction Guard or a Lifeguard. Both come with training included through the American Red Cross, and both require you to pass a pre requisite swim test before you start.
What you'll actually do
- Monitor all park waterways and respond to guests in distress
- Greet and interact with guests while enforcing park safety guidelines
- Warn guests about dangerous water activities and help prevent emergencies
- Administer first aid and use CPR, AED, and water rescue skills when needed
- Participate in scheduled in service training sessions and regular safety audits
- Attend American Red Cross and company audit processes
- Keep your assigned area clean and organized
- Cross train to work in other park areas during in service meetings
- Use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and practice safe work habits
Pay structure for both roles
Aquatic Attraction Guard ; $15.25 per hour total with incentive ($14.00 base plus $1.25 incentive when you work 16 hours or more in the pay week).
Lifeguard ; $16.50 per hour total with incentive ($15.25 base plus $1.25 incentive when you work 16 hours or more in the pay week).
Incentive pay is effective through June 3rd, 2026.
What you need to qualify
- At least 18 years old
- Pass the pre requisite swim test
- Successfully complete company provided and paid American Red Cross CPR/AED training (4 full days of training)
- Pass one of these lifeguarding certifications: Aquatic Attraction Attendant (0 5ft water) or Deep Water Lifeguard (5ft plus)
- Pass regular swim tests and in service or safety audits
- Comfortable in and around water
- Comfortable with heights (you'll be working high tower slides)
- Comfortable working in hot, humid, and windy weather conditions
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods
- Able to work varied schedules ; including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Exceptional communication, multi tasking, and interpersonal skills
