
About This Role
The role
This is a Controls Systems Engineer position with Johnson Controls in Tampa, FL. You'll be doing system commissioning and working with HVAC controls on real job sites. It's not a desk job ; you're out in the field, hands on, using tools and tech to get buildings running right.
What you'll actually do
- Commission systems using Johnson Controls' own configuration and commissioning tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems
- Respond to basic warranty calls
- Load system level controller software
- Run basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system level controllers down to end devices like sensors and actuators
- Complete all required commissioning documentation
- Keep management and the JCI contractor or customer informed on job progress and issues
- Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment
- Handle administrative stuff ; time sheets, expense reports, on site documentation
- Document changes and provide information for as built documentation
- Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer when you arrive and before you leave each work site
- Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training
- Maintain a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety
What you need to bring
Here's what we're looking for ; no fluff.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude ; you can figure things out
- Able to use hand and power tools (drills, saws, that kind of stuff)
- Basic computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective communication and listening skills
- Depending on Tampa, FL, mounting and terminating low voltage devices might require special licensing
It would help if you have some demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems, but that's not a hard requirement.
Schedule and pay
The hourly range for this role is $18.36 to $23.55. Your actual rate gets figured out based on your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and how it all lines up with internal equity and market data.
