Buyer / Procurement Specialist

What You'll Actually Do Here

This is a Buyer / Procurement Specialist role for our Tampa, FL operation. You'll own the sourcing strategy across every indirect spend category we have: MRO, professional services, IT, facilities, HR services, and operations. That's a lot of ground to cover, and you'll need to be comfortable moving between categories fast.

You'll lead cross functional sourcing projects from start to finish. That means running RFx processes, negotiating major supplier contracts, and delivering cost savings that actually stick. You're not just buying stuff; you're improving quality, service, and vendor performance along the way.

Strategic Sourcing and Category Management

• Build sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories that optimize cost, quality, risk, and performance
• Run spend analysis to find savings opportunities and squeeze more value from suppliers
• Develop category roadmaps and long term sourcing plans that line up with business goals

Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to keep the landscape competitive
• Lead contract negotiations and supplier evaluations like a pro
• Manage ongoing supplier relationships so they stay compliant, perform well, and keep improving
• Create and monitor supplier KPIs and scorecards

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Work side by side with internal teams like IT, HR, Finance, Operations, and Legal to understand what they actually need
• Act as the go to Procurement advisor for market insights, contract risk, and sourcing best practices
• Everyone comes to you when they need procurement guidance

Cost Optimization and Process Improvement

• Deliver year over year cost savings using strategic sourcing and total cost of ownership (TCO) methods
• Find ways to streamline procurement processes, automate workflows, and increase efficiency
• Make sure everyone follows procurement policies, approval workflows, and governance procedures

Risk and Compliance

• Evaluate and mitigate supplier risks including financial, operational, compliance, and ESG factors
• Keep accurate documentation, contracts, and procurement records
• Support audits, contract renewals, and supplier compliance initiatives

What You Need to Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Five or more years of experience in indirect procurement or strategic sourcing
• Real contract negotiation and vendor management experience ; not just a line on a resume
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; you should know your way around spreadsheets
• Experience with procurement systems like Coupa, SAP Ariba, or Oracle
• Solid MS Office skills, especially Excel
• You genuinely understand total cost of ownership concepts
• A proactive problem solver who works independently and juggles multiple assignments without dropping the ball
• A strong sense of urgency ; things move fast here
• You must be permanently authorized to work in the United States now and in the future; no sponsorship is available

Travel and Schedule

You'll be based in Tampa, FL. Travel can hit up to 20% at times, so be ready to hit the road when needed. Schedule details will be discussed during the hiring process.
