The Role
Kaiser Permanente Washington on Capitol Hill in Tacoma, WA is looking for a Cardiac Device Nurse Practitioner. This is a full time position where you'll manage patients with cardiac devices ; think pacemakers and defibrillators ; by doing interrogations, programming, and troubleshooting. You'll also educate patients on remote monitoring and lifestyle changes. It's a mix of direct patient care and administrative duties. You'll get medical histories, perform physical exams, and document everything. You'll coordinate comprehensive care for cardiac device patients and handle both in office and remote assessments of their devices.
There's a choice of a $13,000 sign on bonus or up to $13,000 in relocation assistance available to eligible external hires.
What You'll Do
- Conduct device interrogations, programming, and troubleshooting for cardiac device patients
- Provide education to patients on remote monitoring and lifestyle modifications
- Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations
- Document evaluations and maintain patient records
- Coordinate comprehensive care and management for cardiac device patients
- Perform both in office and remote assessments of pacemakers and defibrillators
- Admit patients to the hospital when appropriate and manage length of stay
- Order lab work, pharmacy, radiology, and special tests as needed
- Make appropriate and timely referrals to specialists
- Use technology like OACIS, results reporting, registries, voicemail, and email to manage clinical practice
- Participate in practice team meetings and problem solving for patient complaints
- Work to improve patient access and involve patients in their own care
Qualifications
They highly prefer prior cardiology or cardiac device work experience. There is training involved ; it lasts 12 months with 2 days per week onsite in Tacoma, WA. You need to have current technical skills in your area of practice, consistent diagnostic and therapeutic judgment, and the ability to work within a team. You should be able to admit or refer patients, prescribe medications and treatments, and order tests.
You'll need to demonstrate service excellence with patients and coworkers, show flexibility, and actively participate in continuing education to keep your skills current.
Schedule
Full time. One day per week is in Everett, WA; the rest is in Tacoma, WA on Capitol Hill. During the 12 month training period, you'll be onsite in Tacoma, WA for 2 days per week.
