Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and other vascular procedures.
- Monitor patient hemodynamics and vital signs continuously, recognizing and responding to subtle changes.
- Administer medications, including moderate sedation, under physician direction while maintaining strict aseptic technique.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex equipment like hemodynamic monitoring systems and intra aortic balloon pumps.
- Educate patients and their families on procedures, recovery expectations, and post discharge care plans.
Requirements
- A current, unrestricted RN license for the state where St. Paul, MN is situated.
- Minimum of two years of recent acute care experience; prior Cath Lab, ICU, or ER background is a major plus.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS are mandatory. RCIS or CCRN credentials are highly valued.
- The job involves prolonged standing, wearing lead aprons for extended periods, and lifting/positioning patients. You need the stamina for long cases and the mental focus for high stakes situations.
