About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this nursing job at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis. It's part of the Encompass Health network, and they need a Registered Nurse for nights in St. Louis, MO. I've been placing people here for years; it's a different kind of nursing. You're not just passing meds and moving on. You're walking with people through some of the hardest work they'll ever do; getting their lives back after an injury or illness.

The Work You'll Do

You're the hub of the wheel on your shift. You'll supervise care and treatments, run patient assessments, and build out those individualized care plans. A big part of it is listening; really hearing patient concerns and figuring out how to help them over the next hurdle.

  • You build real relationships with patients and their families. Understanding what drives them is what makes their recovery stick.
  • It's all about coordination. You'll be talking with therapy teams, doctors, and everyone else to make sure care isn't just good, it's seamless.
  • When things get complex, you're the go to resource for other staff on the floor.
  • The best part? Celebrating the wins. The first step. The spoken word. Going home. Those moments are why you're here.

What You Need to Bring

Let's be straight about the paperwork first.

  • A valid RN license for our state is non negotiable.
  • You need current CPR certification; if you've got ACLS too, that's a definite plus.
  • They'd love it if you have your CRRN certification, but it's a preference, not a dealbreaker.

As for experience: one year in a rehabilitation hospital setting is what they're hoping to find. If you've got that inpatient rehab background, you know exactly how different this pace and purpose is from med surg or ICU. If you don't have that year but your heart’s in this kind of work, tell me why.

The Details & The Good Stuff

This is a night shift position. They offer generous shift differentials for nights, and there's currently a $10,000 sign on bonus attached to this role.

The pay is competitive; we can discuss specific numbers when we talk; and the benefits start on your very first day. That doesn't happen everywhere.

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans that are actually affordable for you and your family, whether you're full or part time.
  • Your paid time off starts accruing immediately.
  • They'll help with tuition if you want to advance your education further.
  • There's a 401(k) with a company match and an employee stock purchase plan.
  • You can set up flexible spending or health savings accounts.

A Bit About Them

Encompass Health isn't small or new; they're a national leader in inpatient rehab with over 150 hospitals. But this feels like a local team in St. Louis, MO. They've won awards for being a great place to work and one of the "World's Most Admired Companies," which honestly tells you more about the culture than any recruiter ever could. The focus is on doing what's right for the patient, leading with empathy, and standing together as a team.
