About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this one. We're looking for a Quality Technician in Springfield, IL who knows their way around a Romer arm and can handle the pressure of final inspections on some seriously large scale hardware.

The Work

You'll be inspecting big parts; think weldments, integrated assemblies, tooling; at different stages of machining. It starts with first piece inspection and goes all the way to the final sign off.

  • Using Romer arms, laser trackers (like Leica AT960 or AT402 models), AS1 scanners, or CMMs to get your measurements.
  • You might also use handheld or blue light scanners, plus any manual layout work that's needed.
  • Documenting non conforming material when you find it is part of the deal.
  • The job involves giving clear, concise feedback to machinists and engineers based on the data you collect.
  • You're also responsible for maintaining all that measurement equipment.

This isn't a hand holding role. You need to be comfortable working in a fast paced setting with minimal supervision.

What You Need To Bring

A high school diploma or GED is required. You'll need 3 to 5 years of prior relevant experience to be considered.

  • Fluency with standard measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, intra micrometers, optical comparators.
  • A solid four years or more of hands on experience using at least one of these: a Romer Arm, AS1 Scanner, Leica AT960 Laser Tracker, Leica AT402 Laser Tracker, or a CMM.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5 2009 is mandatory.
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, assembly schematics, and specifications is essential. You'll prepare handwritten or computer generated inspection reports from them.
  • The role requires you to execute or witness test procedures and then generate the corresponding test reports.
  • Generating quality documentation is key; that includes inspection reports, bubble prints, Certificates of Conformance (C of C’s), and Non Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
