What this role actually looks like day to day

This isn't a behind the counter job. You'll be on your feet, moving through the store, helping people find what they actually need. At Duluth Trading, that means knowing the gear inside and out ; from workwear to Buck Naked Underwear to AKHG. The whole point is to be helpful, not pushy. You greet customers, listen to what they're dealing with, and find them something that solves it.

• Get to know the Duluth brand and every product well enough to recommend the right thing without guessing
• Greet every customer, help them in the fitting room, and handle checkout with accuracy and speed
• Talk about current sales and promotions naturally ; not like a script
• Capture email addresses as part of the checkout process (it matters more than you'd think)
• Answer the phone with a real, friendly voice ; store info, directions, taking orders
• Unpack shipments, stock shelves, and keep the sales floor looking sharp
• Clean everything to company standards: sales floor, stockroom, restrooms, cash wrap, hospitality area
• Handle customer concerns when they come up ; no passing the buck
• Process register transactions quickly and correctly every time
• Follow all company policies and do whatever else management needs done that day

Who tends to do well here

You don't need to have retail experience to get this job. It helps, but it's not required. What matters more is the way you show up. People who take pride in their work and treat the store like it's their own tend to stick around. Honesty matters. So does listening ; actually hearing what someone says, not just waiting for your turn to talk.

• High school diploma or GED
• Retail experience is preferred but not required
• You care about the customer's experience, not just getting through the shift
• You take ownership of your work and do things right the first time
• You communicate clearly and listen even more carefully
• You work well with others and pull your weight as part of a team
• You're authorized to work in the U.S. without needing sponsorship

The physical part of the job

This is an active role. You're not sitting at a desk all day. Here's what that actually means:

• Standing or walking for up to eight hours a day
• Reaching and bending frequently ; both below the waist and above the shoulders
• Using your hands repetitively for tasks like tagging merchandise and using the register
• Lifting up to 20 pounds often, and up to 40 pounds occasionally
• Pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds
• Climbing ladders when needed, plus reaching and bending in tight spaces
• Working in temperatures between 50 and 85 degrees, especially in the stockroom
• Using a computer up to 60% of the time throughout the day

Compensation

$15.00 to $15.50 per hour. That range is specific to this location and factors in experience and qualifications.
