MRI Technologist

Avera Health needs an MRI Technologist for Sioux Falls, SD. This is a role where you'll operate MRI equipment to create clinical diagnostic images under physician direction. You'll follow established procedures to get the job done right.

The schedule rotates through evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. There's a potential $10,000 sign on bonus too.

What you'll do day to day

• Prepare patients for MRI scans and adjust equipment as needed
• Position patients and explain what's happening during each procedure
• Stay current with IV injections for administering contrast media
• Perform MRI procedures accurately and efficiently, sticking to established standards
• Coordinate daily schedules so everything runs smoothly and check that exams are completed
• Help train new staff and students during onboarding and orientation
• You might assist with setting up or conducting MRI classes
• Collect and maintain records for the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance Department, Joint Commission accreditation, and OSHA guidelines
• Keep patient records, volume records, and equipment records for the MRI area
• Provide detailed reports to management when they ask for them
• Consult with radiologists, physicians, and other patient care staff about exam specifics and specialized protocols
• Check lab data results, stay familiar with IV access systems and restrictions, and monitor contrast material injections and patient condition during the exam

What you'll need

An Associate's degree or equivalent from a 2 year college, technical school, or hospital based Radiologic Technology Program. You also need Radiography (R) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.

Less than 1 year of experience is required, but you should have thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human anatomy.

Preferred? Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) certification from ARRT upon hire, plus 1 3 years of training or experience in MRI.

Pay range

$32.25 to $48.50 per hour. Your actual rate depends on experience.
