About This Role
How this job helps you make an impact
House of Sport at DICK'S Sporting Goods isn't just another retail store. We're a destination for athletes of every level. As Assistant Store Manager of Operations in Sioux Falls, SD, you'll be the person who keeps that machine running smoothly ; from how the store looks to how the team works to how the numbers add up. If you've been running retail operations for a couple years and want a role where your decisions actually matter, keep reading.
What you'll actually do
You'll work directly with the Store Manager on the long range management of the store's workforce. That means handling the payroll budget, which includes scheduling teammates based on when athletes actually show up and making adjustments off sales reports. You'll plan, organize, and control about 90 days out with the Store Manager's guidance.
- Hire and build strong teams by working with the Store Manager to create targeted hiring strategies that recruit from the local community, so the team reflects the people it serves
- Coach, develop, and hold teammates accountable. That covers discipline, appraisals, performance discussions, and making recommendations on terminations or promotions
- Create a hassle free shopping experience by spotting opportunities in the store and making sure key programs like BOPIS and ship from store actually work
- Directly manage the team in your assigned department(s), and when you're acting as Head Coach you'll have dotted line responsibility for teammates in other areas of the store
- Make sure your department(s) hit every merchandising standard ; visual, pricing, signage, product exposure, everything
- Hold teammates accountable to operational guidelines, brand standards, customer service expectations, and company policies
- Stay compliant with all operational processes: firearm compliance (where applicable), cash handling, safety requirements, and running Loss Prevention audits
- Make sure everyone's practicing safety and security processes while executing Loss Prevention programs (you might serve as the store's Shrink Coach)
- Prioritize training and development for yourself and others. Infuse learning into day to day leading, use hands on coaching, stretch assignments, and build development plans with teammates
- Keep a people first culture. That means connecting with teammates consistently, building trust and respect, and finding creative ways to keep the energy high and engaging
- Create an inclusive environment where teammates and athletes feel safe, welcome, and encouraged to bring their best self to work
- Support opportunities for teammates to give back to their community
What you need to bring
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 3 years of retail management experience (or customer focused experience is fine)
- 1 to 3 years total experience in a similar role
