
About This Role
The Gig
This is a barista role, but not just any barista role. You'll be working an event at Microsoft in Seattle, WA. It's a high end setup, so the coffee needs to be right, and the service needs to be warm. You're making espresso drinks to order, brewing bigger batches when the crowd hits, and keeping your station spotless. You'll also handle some setup, tear down, and trash disposal as needed. And yes, other tasks will pop up ; that's events for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Brewing and crafting espresso beverages exactly as guests order them.
- Making customized espresso and tea drinks ; not just pushing a button.
- Brewing larger batches of drip coffee when the line gets long.
- Keeping your workspace clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Communicating with the Barista Lead when you need help or product.
- Talking with guests in a warm, friendly way while you make their drink.
- Setting up the station before the event and breaking it down after.
- Taking care of trash disposal and other duties as they come up.
What You Need
- Current Food Handler's Permit.
- Barista experience and real knowledge of coffee making.
- High end restaurant or serving experience is recommended.
- Confident communicating in English with guests on a regular basis.
- Efficient with your time ; this gets busy.
- Personable and friendly. That warmth matters here.
The Dress Code (Non Negotiable)
- Pressed black slacks ; no jeans, leggings, or dresses.
- White t shirt.
- Black socks and black nonslip shoes.
- We'll provide the button down shirt and apron.
- No piercings on your face or ears. No jewelry except a simple wedding band.
- No hats. Hair must be pulled up and clean.
- No visible tattoos.
The Environment & Rules
It's a busy environment ; that's the nature of events at Microsoft. But we expect everyone, internal and external, to keep a level of calm, professionalism, and warmth when communicating. Keep your cellphone in your pocket or a locker unless you're messaging a supervisor. Personal calls are for breaks. If there's an emergency, tell your supervisor and step off the floor to make the call. Meals will likely not be provided, so plan ahead. Drinks are available, but you need to finish them before you leave the building.
Schedule & Pay
This is an event based role. The exact schedule isn't listed here, but you'll be standing for long durations during your shift. Expect to lift, move, and carry food items and trays. You'll follow all sanitation and safety rules on site.
