About This Role

Job Overview

Warehouse operations are the backbone of Amazon's delivery network. As a Warehouse Worker in Seattle, WA, you'll handle the flow of goods from the moment they arrive until they're packed and ready for shipment. This isn't a desk job. It's a hands on role where you're on your feet, moving products, operating equipment, and keeping inventory accurate. The work can be repetitive, but it's straightforward and you'll see exactly what you accomplished by the end of your shift. It's a fast moving environment where efficiency matters, but you don't need prior experience to start.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload truck shipments. You'll scan incoming inventory, check for damage, and move pallets to storage areas using powered industrial equipment.
  • Pick customer orders. Walking or riding through aisles, you'll locate items on shelves and scan them into a tote or cart. Accuracy is crucial here ; one wrong scan and the customer gets the wrong product.
  • Pack orders for shipment. You'll assemble cardboard boxes, place items inside with proper dunnage, seal and label them, then send them down the conveyor line.
  • Stow or restock inventory. When new stock arrives, you'll find the right storage location and place items there, making sure the system knows exactly where everything is.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Clear empty boxes, sweep aisles, and keep pathways unobstructed to prevent safety hazards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old due to safety and equipment operation rules.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not always required ; some positions accept equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods, up to 10 12 hours per shift.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 49 pounds repeatedly throughout the day, with or without accommodation.
  • Basic English literacy to read labels, scan barcodes, and follow safety instructions.
  • Willingness to work in a warehouse environment that can get hot in summer and cold in winter, depending on your Seattle, WA site.

What It's Like in This Role

You'll be part of a large team in a cavernous warehouse in Seattle, WA. Work is steady and often fast, especially during peak seasons. You'll use a handheld scanner to guide most of your tasks ; it tells you where to go and what to pick or stow. The pace is managed by productivity metrics, but managers focus more on safety and accuracy than raw speed. You'll interact with coworkers regularly, especially at pick stations or break areas, but there's plenty of solo work too. Expect to be on your feet for most of your shift, with scheduled 10 15 minute breaks. Some roles rotate through different stations; others stay in one area.

Why You'll Like This Opportunity

It's a low barrier entry into a major logistics operation. Many employers offer training for equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks on the job. Shift variety is common ; you can often choose from day, night, or weekend schedules. There's room to move up into lead, trainer, or supervisory roles within a year or two for people who are reliable. The physical nature means you're staying active and not stuck behind a screen all day. Different sites in and around Seattle, WA may offer different perks, so check what's available.

Schedule & Work Type

This is an onsite, in person position at a warehouse in Seattle, WA. Most openings are full time, though some part time or seasonal shifts appear during busy periods. Shifts can be day, evening, overnight, or weekend depending on the site's needs. Expect a standard 40 hour week, with overtime sometimes available during holiday peaks.
