
About This Role
What you'll actually do as a Store Manager
You're the person who runs the store. Not from an office, but from the floor. You'll own the business results and operational goals for your DICK'S Sporting Goods location in San Jose, CA. That means you're directly responsible for driving sales and profitability through customer satisfaction and data analysis ; you'll dig into trends to understand what's working and what isn't, then make decisions based on that.
You control expenses and workforce budgeting. You guarantee floor sets are executed properly, visual standards are met, and the store stays clean, organized, and safe. And you drive shrink results by making sure everyone follows guidelines on safety, loss prevention, and cash handling procedures.
But this isn't just a numbers job. You're people first. You build trust with your team by actively listening and dedicating time to them. You lead through coaching and development ; learning is baked into how you run things day to day. You create an inclusive environment where teammates and customers alike feel safe, welcome, and treated with respect.
You're directly involved in interviewing and hiring. Your goal is to build an effective team that represents diverse backgrounds, skillsets, perspectives, and experiences.
And it doesn't stop at the front door of your store. You prioritize community involvement ; building real relationships with local leaders.
What you need to bring
- 3 years as a Retail Store Manager or 5 years of related management or customer focused experience
- Strong problem solving ability and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong people management skills with a real ability to develop talent
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
The pay range
$106,600 to $170,000 per year for San Jose, CA. That's part of a bigger total rewards package that could include incentive pay, equity, benefits ; all of it.
