What You'll Be Doing
You're in charge of everything that makes the lab run. That means directing all operations, programs, and activities to hit organizational goals and stay ahead of regulations. You'll be setting the department's strategy for service quality, compliance, finances, patient satisfaction, and personnel.
- Making sure we have the right people in place by overseeing hiring, orientation, training, and performance management.
- Developing your team through coaching and regular feedback; you're the model for how things get done.
- Managing the lab's financials. You'll monitor budgets and resource use, identify where things are off track, and adjust to meet goals. Preparing a Monthly Operating Review is part of this.
- Keeping us accredited. You'll ensure compliance with CAP, JCAHO (The Joint Commission), CLIA, FDA, and CMS standards.
- Creating department policies and procedures and verifying they get an annual review.
- Handling key vendor relationships and supply contracts.
- Fostering open communication on your team; asking for input, encouraging suggestions about operations.
The Background We Need

- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- You must have 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- At least 3 years of experience in laboratory leadership or management is also required.
