About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this paralegal role. It's with a law firm in San Diego, CA that needs someone who knows commercial real estate litigation inside and out. This isn't a generalist position; you'll be diving deep into property disputes, leases, and closings. The work is hybrid, so you won't be commuting every single day.
What you'd be doing
You'd be the right hand to the attorneys on commercial real estate cases. That means getting your hands dirty with the details from start to finish.
- Running full case investigations, making sure nothing gets missed.
- Getting cases ready for trial: think summaries, subpoenas, and prepping witnesses.
- Handling electronic discovery using LAW PreDiscovery software for scanning, cataloging, and coding documents.
- Reviewing commercial leases and title surveys to build arguments or find solutions.
- Putting together all the closing documents for both commercial and residential property deals and coordinating those closings.
- Working with attorneys and other paralegals to keep cases on track, hitting all the deadlines.
- Researching zoning laws and land use issues for reports.
- And yes, there's some standard admin work too; scheduling, billing help, correspondence.
The experience you need
We need someone who's been in the trenches specifically with commercial real estate litigation. Here’s the non negotiable stuff:
- A solid five years as a paralegal focused on commercial real estate litigation.
- You have to know how to use LAW PreDiscovery or something very similar for e discovery work.
- A background that includes hands on experience with commercial leasing, analyzing title surveys, and preparing zoning reports.
- You've prepared and coordinated closing documents for both commercial and residential properties before.
- You understand how trial prep works and how to run a thorough case investigation.
A bit more about you
The person who thrives here is organized without being rigid. You're managing a dozen moving parts at once and it doesn't throw you. Your writing is clear; your communication gets the point across without confusion. You see what needs doing next and you do it without waiting to be told every time. A paralegal certification is a nice bonus, but it's not an absolute must have if your experience speaks for itself.
The pay & schedule
The salary range is $70,000 to $95,000 per year. On top of that base pay, there are bonuses. The role is full time with a hybrid schedule (so part in office, part remote). They offer flexible scheduling options too.
Benefits they're offering
- A great 401(k) plan.
- A top tier benefits package (think health insurance etc.).
- A work environment they describe as great; collaborative and focused on good work over politics.
