About This Role
This is a project manager role for someone who's done this before. You'll be in the Power Delivery Solutions division, working on engineering projects for electric utilities. The work ranges from fixed fee to time and materials contracts.
What you'll do
The job is managing the performance of engineering deliverables. That means you're responsible for the day to day execution of contracted work.
- You manage overall project performance; scope, schedule, budget, and reporting are all under your purview.
- Developing recovery plans when budgets or timelines are at risk is part of it.
- A big piece is ensuring full contract compliance and meeting all client requirements.
- You'll drive deliverables by coordinating with Engineering Leads, Managers, and multi disciplinary teams.
- Maintaining documentation for quality control processes is required.
- Serving as the primary interface with clients and internal management to resolve issues is central to the role.
- You'll track progress and report on costs, schedule adherence, and risks across programs.
- Communication with clients, subcontractors, functional leaders, and support personnel happens every day.
- The work includes contributing to bid preparation, cost estimates, and RFP responses.
- Managing monthly invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within deadlines is a key task.
- Collaborating with teams to identify and pursue business development opportunities rounds it out.
The specifics we need
A few things aren't negotiable. You must have these to be considered.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field is required.
- You need a minimum of 5 years of relevant project management experience.
- Proficiency with project management software like Workfront, MS Project, or P6 is necessary.
- Strong MS Office skills are a must; we're talking advanced proficiency in Excel with PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
- Proven experience managing project financials, scopes, and schedules is essential.
- The ability to plan, organize, direct, and track technical efforts across multiple tasks is required.

A strong understanding of project financial planning isn't just nice; it's how you keep everything on track. Your written and verbal communication needs to be excellent because you're constantly translating between technical teams and clients. And you've got the organizational skills to manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball on any of them. Candidates local to San Diego, CA who can work out of our office on a hybrid schedule will get preference. Well qualified folks may be considered for remote work if they can travel occasionally to the greater San Diego, CA area. But you must be located in the United States.
