The role
Leidos is looking for an Interventional Radiology Technologist to work in San Diego, CA. This isn't a typical clinical support role ; you'll be directly involved in high stakes procedural work where precision matters.
What you'll actually do
- Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures
- Operate imaging equipment like fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound to guide procedures
- Assist radiologists during minimally invasive surgeries, including biopsies, drainages, and angiograms
- Monitor patients' vital signs and condition throughout procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure a clean, safe work environment
- Document procedure details accurately in patient records
- Handle contrast media administration under physician direction
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with biomedical engineering for repairs
What you need to bring
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology
- Current ARRT certification (R) and state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- At least 2 years of experience in interventional radiology or a similar procedural area
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Strong understanding of radiation safety and ALARA principles
- Comfortable working in a fast procedure environment where things change quickly
What would help you stand out
- Advanced certification in interventional radiology (CI) or vascular interventional (VI)
- ACLS certification
- Previous experience with Siemens or GE imaging platforms
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems
Schedule
This is a full time position working on site in San Diego, CA. Shifts are primarily 10 hour days, Monday through Friday, but there's rotating call coverage that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on staffing needs.
Pay and benefits
- The pay range for this position is between $154,050.00 and $278,475.00 per year
