Insurance Claims Specialist

The Role

This is an entry level position supporting the Auto Claims Operation. You'll handle claims of material damage, property damage, and liability lines of insurance written by the Interinsurance Exchange. Everything you do needs to comply with regulatory and statutory requirements ; that's non negotiable.

The work involves liability investigation, coverage evaluation, and applying claims resolution and negotiation strategies for lower complexity claims. You'll follow established company best practices in technical service and customer service. This role operates under moderate supervision with specific limits and authority to resolve claims using well defined procedures.

What You'll Actually Do

• Talk and correspond with insureds, claimants, and a few other people involved in the claim process
• Explain benefits, coverages, fault determinations, and how the claims process works ; both verbally and in writing ; making sure everything complies with regulations
• Run investigations to figure out what happened: determine liability and damages while sorting out allegations from actual facts
• Find and take statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses
• Evaluate claims within your settlement authority; negotiate with insureds and claimants to resolve both first party (your customer) and third party (the other person) claims across multiple markets
• Use estimate review tools, assess material damage, analyze liability, work within our claims technology platforms ; basically show you know how to use the tools of this job
• Coordinate with internal departments (like underwriting or legal) and external parties as needed
• Stay responsive to customer needs; answer questions quickly when they come through
• A note on schedule: overtime hours may be required at times; same goes for working some holidays when needed.

What You Need to Bring

A Bachelor's degree is preferred. But we'll also take an equivalent combination of education plus experience if that's where you're coming from.

• No prior claims experience is required. That's right ; this one opens up for people who are brand new to this line of work.
• You need to know Microsoft Office suite pretty well along with general computer software skills.
• Able to organize priorities effectively; planning recognition skills are part of it too.
