About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this CNA opening at Redwood Terrace in San Diego, CA. I've been placing folks here for years, and they run a tight ship with a good heart. The philosophy is all about person directed care, which isn't just a slogan; it's how they operate. You're not just ticking boxes; you're getting to know what makes each resident tick and helping them live as independently as possible.
The Day to Day
Your shift is where the philosophy meets the pavement. You'll provide care that covers everything from basic needs and daily living activities to joining in on recreational stuff. A big part of the job is paying attention; figuring out what residents are into, what they need, and then acting on it. And of course, you're a key part of keeping the care environment safe for everyone.
- Provide hands on care supporting residents' independence.
- Get to know resident interests and needs to personalize your approach.
- Assist with activities of daily living and recreational participation.
- Help maintain a safe environment for resident care.
The Schedule & Pay
This is a full time position on the PM shift: 3 PM to 11 PM. You'll work a rotating schedule of 4 days on, then 2 days off.
The pay range for the Skilled Nursing department is $21.00 to $27.00 per hour. Just so you know, if you were looking at Assisted Living or Memory Care roles instead, those pay scales are different.
You get extra for certain shifts: there's a shift differential for PM, NOC (overnight), and all weekend shifts. Pick up an extra shift? There's a differential for that, too.
What You Need to Bring
The hard requirement is simple: you need a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate or be currently enrolled in a CNA program right now.
- A CNA certificate or current enrollment in a CNA program is required.
- Previous experience as a CNA or caregiver is nice to have, but it's not a deal breaker.
- New graduates are absolutely welcome to apply.
Benefits & Perks
HumanGood is the largest nonprofit senior living operator in California. They offer a solid package that they say can add up to 40% on top of your base pay. For full timers like this role, here’s the breakdown:
- Time Off: You start with 20 days of paid time off plus 7 company paid holidays. That PTO increases the longer you're there.
- Retirement: There's a 401(k) plan with up to a 4% employer match, and you don't have to wait for the matched funds to vest.
- Health Insurance: Health, Dental, and Vision plans kick in on the first of the month after your start date.
- Extras: They cover $25+tax per line on your cell phone plan. There's tuition reimbursement available and a five star rated employee assistance program that's employer paid.
- Schedules are consistent; no guessing games week to week once you're set.
- The patient to staff ratios are excellent, which matters more than almost anything else.
