Business Analyst

The Gist

Hologic is hiring a Business Analyst, specifically a LIS Solution Analyst, based at their San Diego office. This role sits inside a company that's spent decades building tools for women's health ; breast health, cervical health, and a bunch of other areas you probably recognize. They touch over 230 million women every year. That's not a throwaway number.

Your job here is the LIS platform. The Lab Information System. You'll own it from scoping and design through deployment and whatever comes next as it evolves. You'll work with people from customer experience, lab operations, billing, quality, and other SMEs. You'll translate business needs into technical designs. You'll challenge processes that don't make sense anymore. And you'll do it all inside a CLIA regulated clinical diagnostics lab.

What you'll actually do

• Turn business needs into functional and technical designs, requirements, and unit tests. You'll use flow diagrams, testing automation, whatever tools get the job done for both technical and non technical audiences.
• Provide business process guidance and technology solutions for a CLIA regulated clinical diagnostics laboratory, plus ongoing operational support.
• Be the go to person ; the functional and technical SME ; across laboratory applications.
• Design technology solutions that are sustainable and scalable. Leverage native application features first before bolting on anything custom.
• Present your business partners with a range of solution options. Figure out whether people, processes, technology, or data are actually driving the outcome you need.
• Identify and challenge outdated processes, policies, and rules that make life harder for internal users and external customers.
• Work across business functions to deliver comprehensive end to end solutions.
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies inside and outside the lab ecosystem.

What you need to bring

• At least 8 years of experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). That's a hard minimum.
• Experience with SCC Soft LIS is strongly preferred.
• Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience with the Salesforce platform is preferred, but not required.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records platforms is required.
• You can work independently with minimal supervision and know when to escalate issues to leadership.
• Strong problem solving skills are a given.
• You can participate in code reviews and stick to development standards.
• You understand integration principles.
• You have solid consultative and interpersonal skills ; you build real business partnerships.
• You know your way around project management approaches like Waterfall and Agile.
• You can manage your time and workload across multiple projects and shifting priorities.
• You work well in a team, with strong communication, collaboration, and active listening skills.
• You're organized. That's not negotiable.

Where and how

This position is based at Hologic's office in San Diego, CA. There will be occasional travel. You'll follow Hologic's enterprise change management process for production deployments.
