Alright, let's talk about this opening. We're a well established commercial and defense litigation firm with offices across the Northeast. We've got a solid reputation, especially when it comes to trial work. The role is for a senior level attorney to manage their own docket of cases from start to finish.

What you'd be doing

You'll take on a caseload of litigation matters and run with them. That means you're drafting pleadings, motions, and all the necessary legal documents from the beginning.

• Preparing for and conducting depositions, handling interrogatories, and managing the discovery process.
• Doing deep legal research and analysis to build strategies and support arguments.
• Working with other senior attorneys on case strategy and providing support during trials and hearings.
• Helping get trial exhibits, witness interviews, and trial briefs ready.
• Keeping case files meticulously organized and up to date; managing documents and evidence is a big part of it.
• You'll be attending court hearings, conferences, and other proceedings as needed.

The background we need

A few things are non negotiable here. First, you must be admitted to the New York State Bar and be in good standing.

• At least eight years of experience in either civil defense/plaintiff litigation or commercial litigation.
• A thorough understanding of civil procedure, plus strong legal research and writing skills are essential.
• You need proven hands on experience taking depositions and managing discovery from beginning to end.
• Your written and verbal communication has to be top notch.
• The ideal candidate can work independently on their files but also collaborate effectively with the wider team when a case calls for it.

The schedule & pay

This is a full time position. We operate on a hybrid model; you'd be expected in the office 1 2 days per week. The salary range is $135,000 to $175,000 per year. There's also an outstanding bonus and incentive plan in place.
