Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX is looking for an EP Technician Certified to join our Cardiac Cath Lab team. This isn't just a job where you punch a clock. You'll be right there in the Electrophysiology Lab, working as both the scrub technician and the recorder during procedures. That means you set up equipment, monitor patients, collect data, and communicate with everyone on the care team to make sure things run smoothly.

What You'll Actually Do

• Work as both a Cardiovascular Scrub Technician and an Electrophysiology Recorder during all EP procedures ; diagnostic studies, ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator implants (including biventricular ones), laser lead extractions, and vascular closure device placements. These happen on an elective or emergent basis.
• Recognize cardiac structures, advanced heart chamber anatomy, coronary vasculature, and the physiology behind dysrhythmias. Help the physician enter accurate data into the Electrophysiology Physiologic Monitoring System.
• Verify that all information gathered during procedures ; including hemodynamic data ; is correct.
• Follow radiation safety principles according to ALARA guidelines. Know the regulations set by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee. Use your personal radiation badge properly.
• Report life threatening arrhythmias accurately by assessing cardiac function using hemodynamic and electrophysiology data.
• Understand abnormal physiology or disease processes like cardiomyopathy, myocardial infarction, valvular disorders, bypass tracts, and WPW ; and how they relate to patient conditions.
• Archive angiographic and procedural data for long term storage in both hard copy and computerized formats.
• Train new staff members in scrub and recorder duties when needed.
• Take call on a rotating basis as assigned.

What You Need to Bring

• A current certification as an EP Technician or equivalent.
• Experience working in an electrophysiology lab or cardiac cath lab setting.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology of arrhythmias, EP equipment setup, monitoring systems, sterile technique during procedures is required. Years of experience aren't specified but you should be comfortable with these skills day one on the job because we don't have time for hand holding in emergency cases.
