About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this opening. It's for an RN Service Line Coordinator at Methodist Hospital Northeast in San Antonio, TX. I've been placing folks here for a while, and the team is solid. They're looking for someone who can really own a clinical area.

What you'd be doing

You're the go to person for all patient care in your specific clinical practice area. That means you're assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for each patient on your watch. You'll set the standard and act as a resource for the whole department.

  • Get the nursing history from the patient, chart, other staff, and physicians; figure out what's normal and what isn't.
  • Use that history to create an individualized care plan; you need to anticipate changes in a patient's condition and report them.
  • Monitor all patient data to see how it affects their progress and adjust the nursing care plan accordingly.
  • Document everything clearly: your assessments, safety measures taken, and that all physician's orders are completed.
  • Handle charting thoroughly; make sure all reports and charges are done by the book.
  • Establish priorities for patient care and shift those priorities when things change on the unit or with a patient.
  • Assist with or supervise procedures; you'll handle equipment setup and troubleshooting when needed.
  • Review the overall nursing program for your department to see if it's meeting its goals.
  • Adapt to whatever the shift throws at you; changes in patient volume, triage levels, acuity, or staffing.
  • Be a resource for less experienced nurses and unit preceptors.
  • You might set up and teach in service programs to support staff education in your department.

The leadership piece

A big part of this is leading during your shift. You'll coordinate assignments; matching patients to rooms based on needs; and manage resources. The goal is to promote collaboration so service is timely. You'll model excellent customer service, help prevent or resolve conflicts, and work to create the best possible environment for both patients and staff. You'll also make sure everyone on your team is involved in improving processes within the department.

The schedule & requirements

The shift is days. You must be able to take call. That's non negotiable. We need an RN who can step into this coordinator role right away.
