About This Role
The Role
This isn't your run of the mill security gig. If you've got the clearance and the grit for mission critical federal work, this Cyber Security Engineer role with Maximus puts you right in the middle of it. You'll be supporting JCC2 operational systems in San Antonio, TX, and the work is hands on, not theoretical. It's a full time position, contingent on contract award ; meaning the offer is real but ties to the contract landing. You'll be onsite five days a week in San Antonio, TX, so remote isn't an option here.
What You'll Do
The day to day is a mix of defense, detection, and discipline. You'll implement and maintain cybersecurity controls that keep operational systems running securely. That covers risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and threat analysis. You'll conduct security testing and validation to find and fix system weaknesses. When something goes wrong ; and stuff does ; you'll investigate and respond to incidents and security events, then develop remediation actions to support recovery. Documentation is part of the deal: you'll keep security documentation, playbooks, and reporting artifacts current. You'll also ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF, and security standards. Supporting system accreditation and security assessments is on the list, too. And you'll collaborate with engineering and operations teams to beef up system security posture. Expect to participate in Agile program increment (PI) planning and some periodic travel.
